Kimble Home Page Components
You can customize Home pages to include Kimble Home Page Components, which provide at-a-glance access to key information and actions.
You can make custom Kimble Home pages the default Home pages for all users, for users of a certain app, or for users of a certain app based on their profile.
Editing a Home page in Lightning
Customizing Home pages uses Salesforce functionality. For the full instructions and more information on editing Home page layouts, refer to the Salesforce documentation on customizing the Home page for the Lightning experience.
To edit a Home page click the Setup icon when viewing the page and select Edit Page.
You can now drag Visualforce components from the Components pane on the left-hand side to the layout in the central pane. The function provided by the component is determined by the Visualforce Page Name in the right-hand pane. Visualforce Page Names are specified in brackets in the Kimble Home Page Components list below.
Select the required Kimble Home page component from the list, edit the Label to change the component title and Height to change the size. When you have finished, click Save and then Activation to determine the audience for the Home page.
Editing a Home page in Classic
Customizing Home pages uses Salesforce functionality. For the full instructions and more information on editing Home page layouts, refer to the Salesforce documentation on customizing the Home page layout and components for the Classic experience.
In Classic, add Home page components by editing the relevant layout in Setup > Build > Home > Home Page Layouts and selecting the component you want to include.
If the component is not available, create a new custom component on the Home Page Components page (Setup > Build > Home > Home Page Components). Create the new component as a Visualforce Area and link it to the appropriate Visualforce Page (specified below). Some components do not display very well in the “narrow” column, so preview the page before saving and assigning it.
Kimble Home Page Components
You can add the following components to a Home page:
Custom Links (CustomLinks)
Displays links to Kimble Help and Kimble Preferences.
Kimble Help takes you to the in-app help documentation, where you can find information on Kimble features and processes. Kimble Preferences takes you to the My Settings screen, where you can customize how Kimble appears to you, for example your default Time Entry screen, or whether Kimble Guidance Tooltips are enabled or not.
Timesheet Summary (ResourceTimeEntrySummary)
Displays your Timesheet for the current month and indicates how much time is in draft or has been submitted, rejected, or approved for each day. Time Entry status is indicated by the following colours:
- Green: Approved
- Red: Rejected
- Black: Submitted
- Grey: Approved
Clicking a date takes you to the Tracking Period in which that day falls. The current week is enclosed by blue brackets.
My Expenses (ResourceExpenseClaimSummary)
Displays your Expense Claim history for the most previous 12 calendar months and enables you to create new claims from your Home page using the New Expense Item button.
Expense Claims are organized by status, for example “Draft” or “Paid”. Click the summary to display the Expense Claim page for that claim. Where a status has multiple existing claims, clicking the summary displays a list of claims with that status. You can then click through to the Expense Claim page for a claim.
My Approval Requests (ApprovalRequestsMyPending)
Displays the status and approver for each approval request you have submitted.
Click the request name in the Related To column to see the full details of the request. Click the approver’s name in the Current Approver column to see more details about the person approving your request.
My Vacation (ResourceAssignmentSummary)
Displays your used, planned, and remaining vacation days or hours as a doughnut chart. Your total entitlement appears in the middle of the chart. Click the chart to view a breakdown of any used or planned dates below the chart.
This component is not limited to Vacation. You can include any entitlement-based Other Activity in this component by editing the Other Activity and selecting the Include in Resource Assignment Summary checkbox. The component can display charts for multiple Other Activities simultaneously.
My Utilization (ResourceUtilisationSummary)
Displays your utilization from the beginning of the year until the end of the most recent closed Tracking Period as a doughnut chart. Your utilization percentage appears in the middle of the chart. Click the chart to view a breakdown of your usage per activity per month and a comparison of your expected and actual total monthly usage.
The beginning of the year is the first of January unless a different fiscal year start month has been specified.
My TOIL (ResourceToilSummary)
Displays TOIL total, accrual, and usage.
The Accrued column indicates how much TOIL you accrued in each Tracking Period and the Actual column indicates how much TOIL you took. The Net Usage column displays your net accrual for the period (Accrued minus Actual).
The Remaining value is the sum of your total Net Usage (net accrual) plus or minus any manual TOIL adjustments.
Pending Approvals (ResourcePendingApprovalRequestSummary)
Added in the Summer 20 (1.31) release.
Displays your pending Approval Requests.
The tiles indicate how many requests you have for each Item. Click a tile to display the Pending Approval Requests page and a list of requests for that Item.
